Procedure

Phase A: In the main kettle, add everything but the Structure CEL 4400 E rheology modifier and mix under the homogenizer while heating to 75-80°C. Sprinkle in the Structure CEL 4400 E rheology modifier under moderate speed to ensure uniform hydration. Phase B: In a side kettle, add all ingredients and heat to 75-80°C under moderate propeller mixing. Once Phase A and B reach temperatures within 5 degrees of each other, add Phase B into A slowly with moderate speed homogenization. Mix for 10 minutes at 75-80°C. Then begin cooling the batch to 60°C, under low homogenization. When the batch has reached 60°C, sprinkle in Carbopol 940 and homogenize at 4000 rpm for 10 minutes until hydrated. Pre-mix Phase D and slowly add to the batch. Homogenize for 5 minutes or until homogeneous. Add Phase E and mix for another 5 minutes or until homogeneous. Cool batch to 45°C. At 45°C, sprinkle in Phase F and homogenize into the batch at low speed for 10 minutes or until uniform. Adjust the pH to 6.9-7.4. Switch the batch to a sweep blade at the lowest mixing speed (~ 20 rpm) and cool completely to room temperature. Drop the batch.

Color—White; Appearance—Opaque; pH—6.8-7.4; Viscosity—4400-10700 cps RVDV Spindle C, 10 rpm, 25°C.
